She holds a Bachelor's degree in Medicine at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (1984), graduate in Natural history by Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1973), master's degree in Biological Sciences (Physiology) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1978), PhD in Cardiovascular Physiology from the University of São Paulo (1990) and "Livre Docente" Professor from the school of Medicine of USP (2005). She is currently Professor of the Cardiopneumology Department and teacher and supervisor of PPG in cardiology and Experimental Physiopathology, Faculty of medicine University of São Paulo. She carries out the medical function of Hypertension unit and head of the laboratory of Experimental Hypertension, Heart Institute from Hospital Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo. She is the current President of the Coordinating Committee of the Applied Physiology Service from FMUSP, Heart Institute where she is currently a member of the CEUA. She has experience in the field of Physiology, with an emphasis on Cardiovascular Physiology, working mainly on the following themes: diabetes, blood pressure, physical training and hypertension. She was coordinator of the undergraduate Exchange Programme (CapesFipse) between Brazilian (InCor (USP), UFMG and UFRGS) and American Universities (Wright State University and Wake Forest University) in the 2010-2014 period. She currently coordinates the visiting Professor project with the USA (New Southern University and Veterans Administration Hospital-Miami) by Science without borders Program and participates in the Program Capes-Dfait with the Canada. He was President of the Brazilian society of hypertension in which currently participates in the Scientific Council and Board of Directors being the responsible publisher of the journal Hypertension.
