She has a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (medical mod.), a master's degree and a doctorate in physiology at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of São Paulo under the guidance of Dr EM Krieger. She has a postdoctoral degree at the Department of Brain and Vascular Research of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA, under the guidance of Dr D Diz and CM Ferrario, and was Assistant Research at the same institution with support from the American Heart Association. She is currently Full Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Department of Physiology and Biophysics. She was elected coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences: Physiology and Pharmacology of ICB, UFMG for 3 terms. She is a researcher at the National Institute of Nanobiopharmaceuticals (INCT-Nanobiofar). She is an ad hoc consultant at CAPES, CNPq and FAPESP and serves as a reviewer for articles in international scientific journals, Hypertension, American Journal of Physiology, Brain Research, among others. Works in the area of Cardiovascular Physiology, focusing on the following subjects: neural regulation of blood pressure, hypertension, renin-angiotensin system, cardiac function.
